Spring Break

Spring break was filled with many goods and bads for me. I had many good things like family time and hung out with some of my friends. But the most exciting thing I did was buy Call of Duty 4. This is one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life. Then to the bad, I had the worst track meet of my life. I did terrible, embarrass, and also disappointed my dad.

WOW!

Richie and his crew were ordered to go back to their village, and as they approach the site they seen that the Vietcong had invaded and killed there Americans. They seen dead body on the ground, going into one of the huts the Vietcong was still in the village Richie seen a miss fire from one of their guns and he shoots him from point blanks and kills him. This REALLY surprised me because I wouldn't think he would kill someone, I would think he was let someone else shoot away. Also what surprised me was his shot, how he killed him with one shot. But I could predict his reaction after he shot the man. He talked about what the man was thinking and what was he fighting for. He was acting like a little wimp because he and another soldier slept together for mutual comfort. Then he wrote a letter to his brother Kenny and had no clue what to say he said no words cause he couldn't explain the feelings that he was going threw at the time when he killed the Vietcong man.

I knew it

Like I said for the previous I knew that he wouldn't grow into a man. In this chapter he talked about at this point in the war he needs his mom. I knew that he wouldn't over come that he can not be around his mom and he is getting really home sick. Also him and his friends regret enlisting themselves in the army. I knew that they would all began to say it soon or later. Thats all they talked about crying to the other soldiers about how this is horrifying and there is so much killing and the dead bodies with all the American soldiers dying that they was close to. Richie needs to just become a man, I have never been in the army but if I sign up for it knowing what I'm getting myself into I would go all out and not whine about it to all the other soldiers.

Actions

I have been noticing that Richie has not been have a really good life. I noticed that he is really scared and he doesn't really know what to do because there is no where to go. He talks about his how he doesn't want the people from the other countries to think that he is a killer or threat to them. But he is not seeing that this is what he signed up for, he did this for the better for himself not for other people. This should help him grow and become a strong adult instead of losing or wasting his life in the streets of Harlem. Throughout the chapter its doesn't seem like he is growing up it seems to me that he is growing more scared everyday.

Incorrect

From my last post about how I think he is going to leave or find his way out the the war was wrong. He ended up staying in but he met two American red cross works and they talked to him about what he was going to do when he got home. He though back about the high school days and how in school one time he and his guidance counselor was talking and he said how he wanted to be a philospher and the counselor just laughed at he. So now when someone asks him a question he feels every uncomfortable to say anything or express him feelings.

Prediction

After reading about all the killing that was going on I think that Richie will soon drop out of the army or try to change his position because he is so scared and frightened about all is friend in his platoon dying and never seeing them again. I think that all the talking he does will soon wear off on the other young troops around him. They will all soon want to go home crying to their mothers.
